NASCAR announced Tuesday (May 6) the return of the speedway as the host of the championship with a social media announcement with past Cup Series champions Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch.

The championship races will be held Nov. 6-8, NASCAR said in a press release, with the championship race weekend being rotated at other venues.

“Homestead-Miami Speedway has a history of competitive, championship racing that will provide nostalgia for veteran drivers and fans and exhilaration for NASCAR’s new generation,” said Ben Kennedy, EVP, Chief Venue & Racing Innovation Officer, in s press release.

“As we move forward, the rotating model will provide new challenges for competitors as well as opportunities for unique venues to host our loyal fans at NASCAR Championship Weekend.”

The 1.5-mile track, just south of Miami, hosted the finale for each NASCAR series from 2002-2019. Toward the end of Homestead-Miami Speedway’s run as the finale host, calls grew to move the finale around – prompting the move to Phoenix Raceway in 2020.

Phoenix Raceway has had sellout crowds for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race. However, fans have often panned the racing there, prompting calls to bring the championship weekend back to Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The Homestead City Council has showed great interest in bringing the championship weekend back. Councilors approved a resolution to prepare a bid to bring the weekend back to the track in 2026.

The finale reportedly brought in as much as $150 million in annual revenue and helped support around 1,500 jobs.
