INDYCAR unveils Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington course layout
WASHINGTON, D.C.— The NTT INDYCAR Series and federal officials unveiled the layout for the one-off Freedom 250 race in Washington on Tuesday.
Fans floated several concept tracks in recent months, but the series and city ultimately settled on a seven-turn, 1.66-mile circuit weaving through some of the capital’s most recognizable landmarks.

INDYCAR officials have not released the total number of laps but the views will be spectacular.
The start-finish line will sit on 3rd Street before the drivers take the right turn onto Pennsylvania Avenue, where top-speeds could reach upwards of 180mph.
Pit road will sit at the beginning of the 0.4-mile Pennsylvania Avenue straight.
From there, the field will brake hard for turn two. A technical section awaits that will wind around the National Archives and National Gallery of Art to comprise turn three and four.
The following right turn onto 7th Street the carries the cars across the National Mall for the first time.
The area of the National Mall within the track will be open and free for fans during the event.
The course continues with a left-hand turn onto Independence Avenue, passing in front of the Smithsonian before a subtle dogleg at Turn six leads into the final corner and back on 3rd Street.
INDYCAR expects lap-times to average in the mid-50 second bracket.
Construction for the event will begin in the summer and roads will remain open up until the August 22nd-23rd race weekend.
