INDYCAR: Will Power out at Team Penske

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Will Power, who won two NTT INDYCAR Series championships and the 2018 Indianapolis 500 for Team Penske, will not return in 2026.

Team Penske confirmed Tuesday that Power will depart the organization after 17 seasons driving for them.

“As we sat down to talk about our future together, Will felt that it was time for him to make a change beginning with next season,” Roger Penske said in a statement. “He has been an outstanding driver and teammate for our organization. His results speak for themselves and we wish him the very best in the next phase of his career.”

Power ranks fourth on the all-time open wheel racing wins list with 45 wins. At 71 career pole positions, he also has the most pole positions in INDYCAR history. Power earned 42 of his 45 wins with Penske and his two championships, in 2014 and 2022.

“Its been the honor of my life to drive for Roger and the Penske organization. We have accomplished so much together and I will always be grateful for my time with the team and the teammates who have supported me along the way. After much consideration, I felt like a change for me was the right move at this time,” Power said.

Penske went winless in 2025 until Power won race No. 15 of 17, in Portland, Oregon. During his post-race interview, Power was uncertain about his future.

In the final points standings, Power finished ninth – the best points result of any Penske driver. Teammate Josef Newgarden finished 12th in points with a win in the season finale at Nashville Superspeedway.

David Malukas is a heavy favorite to take over the No. 12 ride but nothing is confirmed yet. Malukas races for AJ Foyt Racing, which has a technical alliance with Penske.
