Joey Logano ties two past champions on wins list
With his victory in the Quaker State 400 Sunday, Joey Logano earned his second NASCAR Cup Series victory and 34th of his career.
The win ties Logano with fellow NASCAR Cup Series champions Kurt Busch and Martin Truex Jr. for 25th overall on the series’ wins list.
“For me, honestly, I don’t do this for fun, I do it to win,” Logano said after his victory. “We do it to make money, right? That’s what we do, to put championships and get trophies. That’s why we do it.
“I will say that the reason why we all started is because we like to go fast, we like to compete against each other and race. That part is always down in your heart.”
Ahead of the trio are Brad Keselowski (36 wins), Bobby Isaac (37), Tim Flock (39), Matt Kenseth (39), and Mark Martin (40).
Logano and Truex are tied for the sixth-most wins among active Cup Series drivers behind Jimmie Johnson (83), Kyle Busch (63), Denny Hamlin (54), and Keselowski (36).
The Top-5 all-time winningest drivers in Cup Series history are Richard Petty (200), David Pearson (105), Jeff Gordon (93), Bobby Allison (84), and Darrell Waltrip (84).
The next race for the NASCAR Cup Series is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 15 at Watkins Glen International.
