Joey Logano wins 2024 NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. — Joey Logano earned $1 million for his team Sunday when he won the 2024 NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Logano led 199 of 200 laps, holding off Denny Hamlin for the win.

Despite numerous challenges, no one could pass Logano as Brad Keselowski led a lap under caution before Logano took over again.

“It feels good,” Logano said. “Itโ€™s funny because the first thing that goes through your mind is ‘gosh, I wish this counted for points.’

“But letโ€™s be honest, a million bucks is a lot of money, and it counts for something. Pretty proud of our race team today.”

Logano now has two NASCAR All-Star Race wins. His first was in 2016.

In second, Denny Hamlin, the 2015 All-Star Race winner, worked his way up to the runner-up position after starting 11th.

Hamlin acknowledged he needed an advantage to attempt a pass on race-winner Logano.

“Hate it for our whole Mavis Tire team, but at least we had an exciting fight in the end and weโ€™ve got something to talk about,” Hamlin said.

Chris Buescher, who has experienced on-track close calls for victories the last two weeks at Kansas and Darlington, finished third.

“Itโ€™s a good night on a night where only one position matters,” Buescher said. “Iโ€™m proud of the group. Itโ€™s good to keep our momentum up and weโ€™ll go onto the 600 and go win us one.”

After qualifying fifth for the 2024 Indianapolis 500 earlier in the day, Kyle Larson flew from Indianapolis to North Wilkesboro in time for the All-Star Race.

Larson, the defending winner of the event started from the rear of the field and rallied to finish fourth.

“Hats off to the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevy team,” Larson said. “I know they had a lot of work this week; having Kevin (Harvick) practice, swap seats and everything back to where I could drive it.

“Proud to go back and forth and have a shot to win.”

Ryan Blaney, the 2022 All-Star Race winner, finished fifth.

Bubba Wallace, who raced his way into the All-Star Race via a second-place run in the All-Star Open, came home sixth. He held off Joey Logano in the first half to stay on the lead lap.

Kyle Busch, who had an on-track run-in with Ricky Stenhouse Jr., causing Stenhouse Jr. to crash that ultimately spawned a post-race confrontation and fight, finished 10th.

NASCAR Fan Vote winner Noah Gragson finished 11th.

All-Star Open victor Ty Gibbs finished 13th.

Stenhouse Jr. anchored the field in 20th, completing two total laps.
