STAGE POINTS EXPLAINED

NASCAR awards points to the Top-10 finishers in each stage of a points race (except the Clash, Duels and All-Star Race). Each race has two stages except the Coca-Cola 600, which has three.

A stage winner earns 10 points while the second-place driver earns 9. Third-place earns 8 points, down to the 10th-place driver who earns 1.

Stage points are added to a driver’s points for their finishing position. Finishing first awards a driver 40 points, second awards 34, down to 36th through 40th-place each awarding 1 point.

The totals in this article do not include the points earned in the Daytona qualifier races.
