Lando Norris takes pole for F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix
LAS VEGAS — Everyone will be chasing Lando Norris not only in the Formula 1 Driver’s World Championship but also when the lights go out Saturday night in the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Points leader Norris took pole position in qualifying his McLaren for F1’s Las Vegas Grand Prix. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took second while Williams driver Carlos Sainz rounded out the podium to start the third annual Grand Prix around the Las Vegas Strip.
Coming into the weekend, Norris commands a 49-point lead over Verstappen — the third and final driver in contention for the DWC. In between them is Norris’s teammate Oscar Piastri, who is second in points with a 24-point deficit that’ll be temporarily lengthened when he starts fifth on Saturday.
Mercedes failed to give the stewards their setup sheets for practice but avoided any major penalties after consulting with them after the infraction. George Russell starts fourth while teammate Kimi Antonelli starts 17th.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc starts ninth, far ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton who will start 20th after a rough qualifying session.
