Live Fast Motorsports announced Thursday they will switch to Chevrolet for the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season.

The team will receive support from ECR Engines as they make the transition from Ford to Chevrolet. ECR Engines will provide engine rebuild services for the team.

“We’re looking forward to racing for Chevrolet, the winningest manufacturer in NASCAR,” said Matt Tifft, co-owner of Live Fast Motorsports. “We’ll also be getting engine support from ECR engines, and we know our program will benefit from their technologies and power under the hood.”

Live Fast last ran Chevrolets for 12 races in 2020, then switched to Ford full-time in 2021 and 2022.

The team didn’t announce a driver lineup for the 2023 season but team co-owner BJ McLeod is expected to return for at least 28 races.

“Our team is excited to make this transition to Chevrolet,” McLeod said. “Chevrolet Camaros have proven great success on the track and Live Fast Motorsports is looking forward to becoming a part of this advance.”

In 2021, the No. 78 Live Fast team was 31st among the 36 chartered teams, 50 points ahead of any of the bottom three teams. The next year, the team finished among the bottom three, in 36th, -100 points to 33rd.

If a team finishes in the bottom three for three years in a row, NASCAR has the right to pull a team’s charter.
