NASCAR moves Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum to Saturday night
NASCAR moved the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum and the Mexico Series race to Saturday night.
Officials made the move with impending risk of “life-threatening flooding” possible Sunday.
With this move, there won’t be any heat races or a last-chance qualifier. Instead, the top 22 fastest drivers in practice will make the Clash.
Anyone who paid for parking Sunday will get refunded. Sunday race ticketholders will also receive notification soon on the next steps for accommodations.
Practice will go live on FS1 around 5:35 p.m. ET. The Clash will go green at around 8 p.m. ET on FS1 with the Mexico Series race to follow on FS2.
NASCAR statement on the postponement
“Due to the threat of unprecedented severe weather on Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Mexico Series race events for the Clash have been moved to Saturday night. Thanks to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Los Angeles Public Safety for their partnership and support to make the schedule adjustment for tonight’s event to ensure a safe experience for fans, competitors, and staff. We understand weather conditions may worsen as the day progresses, so we encourage fans to make decisions in the best interest of safety. We appreciate our fans, partners, and everyone associated with this event on this unprecedented event.”

Jonathan Fjeld is the co-owner of the The Racing Experts, LLC. He has been with TRE since 2010.
A Twin Valley, MN, native, Fjeld became a motorsports fan at just three years old (first race was the 2002 Pennsylvania 500). He worked as a contributor and writer for TRE from 2010-18. Since then, he has stepped up and covered 24 NASCAR race weekends and taken on a larger role with TRE. He became the co-owner and managing editor in 2023 and has guided the site to massive growth in that time.

Currently, he resides in Albuquerque, N.M., where he works for KOB 4, an NBC station. He works as a digital producer and does on-air reports.
