U.S. Senator John McCain passed away Saturday, according to his office. The Arizona Senator was 81.

McCain was no stranger to visiting NASCAR venues.

McCain most recently served as the grand marshal at the November 2015 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at ISM Raceway, according to FOX Sports.

According to the article, McCain was also the grand marshall at the April 2006 Cup Series race at ISM Raceway.

McCain also attended races at Charlotte Motor Speedway (2007) and New Hampshire Motor Speedway (2008), according to FOX Sports.
