Snowball Derby 2025 race info: Updated schedule and more
PENSACOLA, Fla. — It’s one of the biggest motorsports events all year but it doesn’t come until late in the year — it’s the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway.
Drivers from all over the world, from every division of stock car and late model racing, are set to enter the race weekend and make it through the ever-grueling process it takes to become a Snowball Derby winner in the race’s 58th running.
When is the 2025 Snowball Derby? How can I watch it?
The 2025 Snowball Derby is at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. According to the track, reserved tickets are sold out but general admission tickets are still available on race day only.
Dec. 6 is the Snowflake 125 Pro Late Model race and Snowball Derby qualifying:
8 p.m. ET – Snowball Derby Qualifying
TBD – Snowball Derby Last Chance Qualifier
TBD – Snowflake 125 Qualifying
TBD – Snowflake 125 LCQ
TBD – Snowflake 125
Then, Dec. 7 is the 300-lap Snowball Derby, the biggest Super Late Model race in all of the United States.

What makes a Snowball Derby win so elusive?
The drivers. Everyone who is anyone on short tracks shows up for the Snowball Derby.
Past winners include:
- NASCAR Hall of Fame inductees such as Darrell Waltrip and Donnie Allison
- NASCAR national series champions like Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Ty Majeski, Ted Musgrave and Erik Jones
- Short track racing greats of their time like Rich Bickle, Travis Braden and Derek Thorn
Much like other prestigious races and sporting events, the list of notable non-winners reads like a “Who’s who” as much as the list of winners.
Names like Bubba Pollard, Stephen Nasse and Casey Roderick have never won the Snowball Derby despite dominating late model racing for years — but they’re all entered to try and win this year:

Jonathan Fjeld is the co-owner of the The Racing Experts, LLC. He has been with TRE since 2010.
A Twin Valley, MN, native, Fjeld became a motorsports fan at just three years old (first race was the 2002 Pennsylvania 500). He worked as a contributor and writer for TRE from 2010-18. Since then, he has stepped up and covered 24 NASCAR race weekends and taken on a larger role with TRE. He became the co-owner and managing editor in 2023 and has guided the site to massive growth in that time.
Fjeld has covered a wide array of stories and moments over the years, including Kevin Harvick's final Cup Series season, the first NASCAR national series disqualification in over 50 years, Shane van Gisbergen's stunning win in Chicago and the first Cup Series race at Road America in 66 years – as well as up-and-coming drivers' stories and stories from inside the sport, like the tech it takes for Hendrick Motorsports to remain a top-tier team.
Currently, he resides in Albuquerque, N.M., where he works for KOB 4, an NBC station. He works as a digital producer and does on-air reports. He loves spending time with friends and family, playing and listening to music, exploring new places, being outdoors, reading books and writing among other activities.
