Stewart Friesen out for rest of NASCAR Trucks season after modified crash
DRUMMONDVILLE, QUEBEC — NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Stewart Friesen is out for the rest of the season after a vicious crash left him with injuries to his lower extremities.
On Monday, Stewart Friesen raced big block modifieds in night one of “King of the North” at Autodrome Drummond. While racing into turn three, Friesen’s car went wide, hit the outside wall, caught air and flipped multiple times. After hitting the top of the wall and catching fire, his car was hit by another car before finally coming to a rest.
Super DIRTcar Series, the sanctioning body Friesen was racing with, stated he was “alert and communicating with officials and EMT.” All other drivers were okay.
Around 27 minutes later, Super DIRTcar stated safety officials helped Friesen out of his car. Friesen was then transported for further evaluation.
Stewart Friesen’s team confirmed he was “alert and talking” and is at a local hospital after the crash. They updated the extent of his injuries Tuesday morning.
“Stewart has suffered an unstable/open-book pelvic fracture, meaning his pelvis is broken in two or more places, with a large hematoma on the area. Stewart also has a fractured right leg,” Friesen’s team posted on social media.
Friesen’s team confirmed he is in stable condition and is “in better spirits and resting.” He will undergo surgery Tuesday and in the coming days.
Here are the updates Friesen’s team provided Tuesday:

Friesen is coming off of a tough weekend at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. Although he led 20 laps, earned nine stage points and crossed the start-finish line in third, a disqualification wiped that all away. He is appealing the disqualification.
However, Friesen will race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series playoffs for the first time since 2022. He earned his playoff spot with a win at Michigan International Speedway in June.
Two races remain until the Truck playoffs begin: Aug. 8 at Watkins Glen and Aug. 15 at Richmond Raceway. The playoffs begin Aug. 30 at Darlington Raceway.
