SVG wins NASCAR Cup Series Rookie-of-the-Year honors

AVONDALE, Ariz. — Shane Van Gisbergen officially won the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year honors at the conclusion of the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway Sunday.

SVG, piloting the No. 88 Chevrolet for Trackhouse Racing, captured three poles, five victories, five Top-5 finishes and seven Top-10 finishes — along with a NASCAR Cup Series playoff berth — en route to handily winning the honor.

His only other contender was Riley Herbst, who finished 35th overall in points. SVG finished 12th.

“It’s another thing, it’s cool, I gotta appreciate there weren’t too many rookies this year, but pretty cool,” SVG said about winning the award ahead of the final race of the year at Phoenix.
