Ty Gibbs earns first Top-5 of 2024 at Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS — Ty Gibbs came away with his first Top-5 finish of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season after his fifth-place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Sunday.

Gibbs started eighth, earning five stage points en route to his fifth-place finish, despite losing first gear and an uncontrolled tire pit road penalty in Stage 2.
“Really happy, really excited about what the car is capable of,” Gibbs said of his race. “I feel really happy about it.”
Gibbs battled with Noah Gragson in the closing laps of the race for the Top-5 finish. He said Gragson apologized to him after the race.
“He just got a little tight, but we had a good battle,” Gibbs said.

Gibbs has earned 1 Top-5 and 2 Top-10 finishes in 2024, which has propelled the second-year driver to ninth in points.
For perspective, Gibbs’ first Top-10 last year was five races into the season (Atlanta) and his first Top-5 wasn’t until the 21st race (Pocono).
Entering next weekend’s race at Phoenix Raceway, Gibbs has a 21-point cushion on the playoff cutline.
