Ty Gibbs impresses in World of Outlaws debut
CONCORD, N.C. — It only took three days for Ty Gibbs to get back into a racecar after wrapping up the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season Sunday at Phoenix Raceway.

Ty Gibbs made his World of Outlaws debut Wednesday in World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series hot laps for the World Finals at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Dirt Track.
Gibbs topped the first round of hot laps at one point with a time of 12.865 seconds. Although Sye Lynch ultimately topped Gibbs with a 16.661-second lap and current points leader David Gravel did too with a 16.763-second lap, Gibbs impressed.
Up next at Charlotte is a slate of heat races Thursday and Friday.
A Joe Gibbs Racing driver racing a sprint car – let alone the boss’s grandson making his World of Outlaws debut – reflects a culture shift within the team that has seen Ty Gibbs also race sprint cars in the High Limit Racing Series.
Gibbs and the NASCAR Cup Series returns Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, with the season-opening Cook Out Clash exhibition race at Bowman Gray Stadium on FOX.
