WATCH: Pace car hits pit road sand barrel
AVONDALE, Ariz. — Before the start of Stage 2 in the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race Sunday, the NASCAR Toyota Camry pace vehicle struck a sand barrel at the entrance of pit road, causing a nearly 6-minute red flag.

Last season in the NASCAR Cup Series cutline race at Martinsville, the pace car appeared to stop working.
A backup Toyota Camry pace car was used after the incident.
