The back-to-back Daytona 500 winner has gained a reputation as one to watch at the high banks, establishing himself as a favorite every superspeedway race. Sunday was no different, with Byron running well for the majority of the race.

He collected the fourth-most points among the field Sunday, grabbing stage points by finishing second in stage one and finishing the race third. Byron was asked post race how he and the No.24 team have been able to elevate their game at superspeedways.ย

โ€œI feel like weโ€™re just learning how to work it,โ€ Byron said. โ€œThe cars have stayed pretty similar, so youโ€™re able to really maximize the situations and I feel like weโ€™re just learning from that.โ€

Many strategies were unfolding throughout the field during the race. As things played out in the final stage, Byron felt he and the No.24 team had put themselves where they needed to be to win, but ultimately fell short.

โ€œWe always do,โ€ Byron said. โ€œI think we really just had to be smart with our strategy,โ€ Byron said. โ€œI felt like we did, those guys could just maintain a little better track position than us and we had to work really hard to keep it up there, and we did a good job on our last cycle and was able to get the track position we needed so I was happy with the last cycle. I felt like we were exactly where we needed to be.โ€

Passing was a challenge on Sunday, but it was nothing Byron didnโ€™t expect.

โ€œIt was tough to pass,โ€ Byron said. โ€œI think it was pretty standard, you know, with the fuel saving. Difficult, but I think it was pretty normal from my seat.โ€

Oddly enough, the points in the race where passing became more prevalent was during the fuel saving. When the field finally cycled through the final green flag stops, passing became almost nonexistent with the field pushing full throttle to the finish.

Byron has been on a tear recently, finishing sixth or better in the last three races. Similar to his teammate, Kyle Larson, he too has only finished outside the Top-10 three times in 2025 so far.

Byron extended his points lead by one point to 31 following Talladega over his teammate Larson.
