William Byron ties Tim Richmond in wins with Martinsville victory
William Byron’s victory Sunday at Martinsville Speedway in the Cook Out 400 tied the Hendrick Motorsports driver with former Hendrick Motorsports driver Tim Richmond on the all-time wins list.
Byron picked up his third win of 2023 and the 13th of his career.
Byron, Richmond and Dick Rathmann are now tied for 59th all-time on the NASCAR Cup Series wins list.

Behind Byron were Hendrick teammates Kyle Larson in second and Chase Elliott in third.
“I never thought we’d finish 1-2-3,” team owner Rick Hendrick said of the finish.
HISTORY
Byron earned the 29th victory for Hendrick Motorsports at Martinsville during a weekend of the team’s ruby-anniversary celebration of Geoff Bodine’s first victory for the team in 1984.
All of Byron’s 13 wins have come behind-the-wheel of the Hendrick Motorsports No. 24 Chevrolet.
Richmond earned nine of his 13 wins driving for Hendrick Motorsports.
Rathmann raced in NASCAR’s top series from 1951 to 1955, earning victories for team owners Walt Champan, Ray Erickson, and John Ditz.
Ahead of the trio on the wins list include Dick Hutcherson and LeeRoy Yarbrough (14 wins), Ernie Irvan (15), Marvin Panch (17), and Curtis Turner (17).
