William Byron to honor Kobe Bryant at Fontana race
William Byron’s No. 24 Chevrolet will sport a purple-and-gold paint scheme, paying homage to the late Kobe Bryant, for the Auto Club 400 race weekend, Hendrick Motorsports announced Wednesday (Feb. 25).
The Cup Series racecar will be on track this weekend at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.

“Honored to be driving for Kobe, Gianna, Payton, Sarah, Alyssa, Keri, John, Christina, and Ara,” Byron said on social media Wednesday. “Continued prayers for their families.”

Byron’s sponsor, Axalta, also announced a donation to the non-profit organization After-School All-Stars. Bryant served as a National Ambassador for the organization.
Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday, January 26. He was 41.
The Auto Club 400 will be run this Sunday, March 1 at 3:30 P.M. ET on FOX.
