William Sawalich on O’Reilly Series pole at Bristol
BRISTOL, Tenn. — William Sawalich picks up right where he left off at Rockingham, grabbing the pole for the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Bristol.
This marks his third career pole in the series, and his short track setup looks dialed in once again.
Sheldon Creed lines up alongside the sophomore driver on the front row with Kyle Larson, Brandon Jones, and Sam Mayer completing the top five qualifiers.
Taylor Gray showed the best speed in practice but slots into sixth for the race. Justin Allgaier nearly spun coming to the green flag on his first qualifying lap, but he recovered to salvage seventh.
His teammate Carson Kvapil, who makes his switch to the No. 9 this weekend, will start eighth. Parker Retzlaff continues his strong qualifying run of late to start ninth, and Brennan Poole backs up his solid Bristol form by lining up alongside Retzlaff in tenth.
The field’s other Cup Series regular, Connor Zilisch, starts 15th.
Rajah Caruth, wheeling the Jordan Anderson Racing No. 32 this weekend, sat out qualifying after the team discovered issues to address before tonight’s race.
No cars went home, as the field maxed out at 38 entries.
