2nd again: Brad Keselowski finishes runner-up at Talladega

Brad Keselowski had a chance to snap his nearly three-year NASCAR Cup Series winless streak at Talladega Superspeedway Sunday, but ultimately came up one position short.

Working with fellow Ford driver Michael McDowell, Keselowski stayed on the bottom line during the closing laps of the GEICO 500, giving pushes to McDowell and maintaining the second-in-line position.

On the last lap, Keselowski made attempts to pass McDowell out of Turn 4, with McDowell ultimately spinning off of Keselowski’s front bumper, igniting a multi-car crash in the tri-oval.

Tyler Reddick avoided the chaos and raced around Keselowski’s outside to claim the checkered flag. Keselowski finished second.

“It was kind of a wild finish there,” Keselowski said. “I got a great push from Noah Gragson and had a chance to make a move on Michael and in all the swerves back and forth all three of us ran into each other and Michael got the worst end of it.”

Keselowski now has a 108-winless streak; dating back to his Talladega victory in April 2021.

Since his last win, Keselowski has posted 18 Top-5 finishes, 40 Top-10 finishes and has led 785 laps during his winless skid.

Additionally, Keselowski has finished in second-place five times, including the last two races.

“It’s another second,” Keselowski said. “It’s a solid day, but not the win we wanted.”

After 10 races, Keselowski is 14th in points with a nine-point advantage over the playoff cutline.
