Alex Bowman looking for long-awaited win at COTA

AUSTIN, Texas — Fresh off his second top-5 finish of the season at Bristol, Alex Bowman is bringing the momentum to a track that has treated him very well.

In three NASCAR Cup Series races at Circuit of the Americas, Bowman has top-10s in each race and top-5 finishes the last two races.

On top of that, Alex Bowman has never left COTA with fewer than 30 points earned (30 in 2021, 43 in ’22, 41 in ’23).ย

Bowman nearly took the checkered flag in 2022. While battling with A.J. Allmendinger and Ross Chastain on the final lap, he briefly had the lead. Then, Chastain bumped Allmendinger’s car into his, moving Bowman out of a win.

Bowman, who is currently on a 66-race winless streak, is feeling the pressure. His last win was at Las Vegas in March 2022, fresh off a four-win season in 2021.ย

In the first five races this season, he had three consecutive finishes of 18th or worse in between a razor-thin second place finish in the Daytona 500 and a fourth place run at Bristol.

Bowman currently sits 12th in points, just +10 to the cutline and -53 to teammate and points leader Kyle Larson.

COTA isn’t the only good track coming up for Alex Bowman. He has Richmond and then Martinsville, which are both tracks that he has won at before.

If Bowman wants to end his winless streak and secure his future, his best chances are here.

The EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at COTA is slated to go green just after 3:30 pm. ET.
