Bayne marks return to

FONTANA, CALI. – Trevor Bayne made his

“We were probably a second-place car but we ended up third but we’ll take it.”

“Quite a bit different with the small spoiler on it compared to the 2016 car – and then just being in a Gibbs car vs. a Roush car, they drive different. I think as we learn, we’ll be better, wish we were going to Vegas, but we’ll take our run for Phoenix.”

“Halfway through the first stage, I was back in my comfort zone. I was like, ‘Alright we’re back!’ The thing that hurt us the most was the pit stop got us back to 10th, 11th. When you get back there, those guys are so race-y which is so different than when I was in the Xfinity Series because I was racing Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards – guys who would turn you if you raced them like that. It was definitely a different style of racing back there but I enjoyed it. Once we got our track position, it was just too tight compared to the 07. At the end, if there was no speedy dry I would’ve picked the bottom and sailed it in there Jimmie Johnson-Carl Edwards style.”

“At the beginning I was so nervous and how quickly it came back. I was shocked how it felt like I never left. Also my perspective, I’m not mad because someone packed air on my spoiler. It’s like we’re back at the go-kart track.”
