Almirola claims Ally 400 at Nashville pole

Aric Almirola earned his third career NASCAR Cup Series pole Sunday.
Almirola will start first for Sunday’s Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway, with Kyle Busch starting on the outside pole.
The pole is a much-needed break for Almirola, who currently sits 28th in the NASCAR Cup Series points standings with only one Top 10 finish so far this season.
The Top 10 qualifiers are as follows: Aric Almirola, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, William Byron, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Cole Custer, Alex Bowman, Erik Jones, Ryan Blaney.
Rackley Roofing 200 winner Ryan Preece starts 20th, ahead of Bubba Wallace who starts 21st.
Justin Haley starts 27th. Haley announced Friday that he will drive in the NASCAR Cup Series full-time for Kaulig Racing in 2022.
Martin Truex Jr. starts 35th after his car slid up the racetrack on his qualifying attempt.
