Austin Cindric tops practice at Phoenix

AVONDALE, Ariz. — Daytona 500 champion Austin Cindric led the field in the NASCAR Cup Series’ only practice session of the Phoenix Raceway race weekend.
Cindric led the first group of drivers in the 20-minute Group A session Saturday ahead of the Ruoff Mortgage 500 with a lap time of 27.462 seconds.
Team Penske teammate Ryan Blaney had the second-fastest lap at 27.471 seconds.
Tyler Reddick, William Byron and defending series champion Kyle Larson rounded out the Top-5 in practice.
Last year’s March winner Martin Truex Jr. had the 15th fastest lap.
