AVONDALE, Ariz. — Ben Rhodes third-place finish in the Lucas Oil 150 Friday at Phoenix Raceway earned the ThorSport Racing driver his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series title in his sixth full-time season.

Rhodes is the 19th different champion of the Truck Series and the seventh different champion in the last seven seasons.

“That was the hardest last 40 laps I think I have ever driven in my life,” Rhodes said. “I was doing things to the race car I probably shouldn’t have been doing, it was dumb, but I had everything to lose.

“And we brought it home and won it. I don’t even know what to say. This is crazy. Bookends for the season, I am so proud of my ThorSport Racing group.”

Rhodes started the season with back-to-back wins in the first two races; Daytona and the Daytona Road Course.

Rhodes finished the season with 2 victories, 8 Top-5 finishes, 16 Top-10 finishes, and 99 laps led.

“I just can’t thank Duke and Rhonda (Thorson) enough,” Rhodes said. “They are the reason I’m here tonight, Bombardier, Toyota, Menards, Wiley X, we have so many people that help us.”
