Justin Bonsignore captured his sixth win of the season Thursday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway. The event provided action packed racing at the track dubbed “The Last Great Colosseum”.

โ€œWeโ€™ve always had a lot of speed and a lot of success here, but the last couple of years has been feast or famine for us,โ€ Bonsignore said.

โ€œWe wanted to win Bristol. Itโ€™s a huge win to check off the list as a modified driver. Iโ€™m really glad we were able to drive up the ramp (Victory Lane). Itโ€™s something Iโ€™ve been wanting to do for a long time.โ€

RECAP:

Justin Bonsignore and Patrick Emerling started on the front row, but Emerling quickly shot out to the lead. Bonsignore tucked in behind Emerling while Doug Coby took fourth place from Timmy Solomito.

On lap 20, Bonsignore tried to take the lead, but Emerling shut the door. By lap 30, the top-5 caught the tail end of the field and caused the leaders to fight through lapped traffic. On lap 53, Bonsignore passed Emerling for the lead while Timmy Solomito followed in third.

On lap 57, Patrick Emerling spun coming off Turn 2 while running third. When the race went back to green on lap 60, Timmy Solomito took the lead from Chase Dowling. Bonsignore and Coby were side by side for third. By the halfway break, Timmy Solomito, Chase Dowling and Justin Bonsignore were the front runners.

On lap 95, Bonsignore took the lead from Solomito. Solomito spun around and avoided contact with the wall. With 50 to go, Bonsignore took the lead and didnโ€™t look back. While the racing up front was heating up, Dave Sapienza was all over the back bumper of Burt Myers for seventh.

Chase Dowling tried to reel in Bonsignore, but he came up short when the checkered flag waved. Bonsignore went on to claim his sixth victory of the season and extended his championship point lead to 64 points over second place Chase Dowling.
