Brendan Gaughan races into Daytona 500

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Brendan Gaughan raced his way into the Daytona 500 Thursday night via the Gander Outdoor Duel No. 2.

With a 15th-place finish, Gaughan will start 30th in the Daytona 500, his fourth start in NASCAR’s season opener and third consecutive.

“It was a big sigh of relief,” Gaughan said to The Racing Experts of making the Daytona 500 for Beard Motorsports.

The team’s highest finish in the Daytona 500 was 11th with Guaghan in 2017.

Joey Logano won the duel.
