Bret Holmes Racing to run Trucks part-time in 2021
ARCA Menards Series team Bret Holmes Racing revealed Thursday that they will field a No. 32 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series part-time entry for Bret Holmes and Sam Mayer in 2021.
Mayer, a two-time ARCA East champion, is new to the team for 2021. He is scheduled to run five Truck races for the team, including races at Richmond Raceway and Bristol Motor Speedway.
Mayer, 17, is also scheduled to run six ARCA Menards Series races, beginning with the Mid-Ohio race in June. He is also scheduled to run the second half of the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series season for JR Motorsports before going full-time in 2022.
Holmes, the 2020 ARCA Menards Series champion, is scheduled to run several Truck races, beginning off with his series debut at Atlanta in March. Holmes, 23, will also run the No. 23 ARCA Menards Series entry in multiple races, beginning with the season-opening race at Daytona in February.
Former NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Shane Huffman will once again serve as crew chief for Holmes and Mayer in 2021.
“I’m really looking forward to this season with Bret (Holmes) and Sam (Mayer),” said Huffman. “We worked hard and learned a lot last season. That all paid off when we brought home the ARCA Menards Series championship. We will take all that and capitalize on it this year.
Holmes scored one win, 14 Top 5s and 19 Top 10s en route to winning the ARCA Menards Series championship in 2020 with Huffman as crew chief. Holmes beat Michael Self for the championship.
Mayer scored eight wins and 17 Top 5s across ARCA and its East and West Series, in addition to winning the ARCA East championship, in 2020. He also became the youngest winner in Truck Series history when he won at Bristol in September 2020.
Sam’s full schedule will be available in the near future at http://www.sammayerracing.com.
