Bubba Wallace on the verge of first Cup playoff appearance

A repeat winner and at least 23 points earned will guarantee Bubba Wallace his first NASCAR Cup Series playoff berth Saturday at Daytona.
A win will also lock Wallace in but it’s not necessary. At Watkins Glen, one of his worst tracks, he finished 12th and increased his advantage on the cutline to 32 points.
โJust a great day for the 23 team,โ Wallace said Sunday at Watkins Glen. โNow, we get to go in Daytona stressful as hell, but it takes a little bit of the edge off for sure.โ
Having to earn 23 points, Wallace can finish of 14th or better and lock in even if he doesnโt score any stage points.
Wallace will still have to hope there is not a new winner who could erase his playoff hopes.
The only new winner Wallace wants to see is himself. Wallace has two Cup Series wins โ Kansas last fall and Talladega in fall 2021 โ but none this season.
Wallace has been racing full-time in the Cup Series since 2018. His highest finish in points was 19th in 2022.
The Coke Zero Sugar 400 is scheduled for Saturday, August 26 at 7 p.m. ET. on NBC, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
