Byron wins Road America pole

ROAD AMERICA, WISC. — William Byron won the pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Jockey 250.

Byron turned in a lap of 2:12.049 seconds and earned his sixth career pole. It is Byron’s first pole since the Charlotte Roval in September 2019.

Byron bested his teammate Kyle Larson by 0.184 seconds.

The Top 12 qualifiers are as follows: William Byron, Kyle Larson, A.J. Allmendinger, Tyler Reddick, Austin Cindric, Denny Hamlin, Matt DiBenedetto, Ross Chastain, Martin Truex Jr., Alex Bowman, Daniel Suarez, Chris Buescher.

Tyler Reddick spun in Turn 14 during his qualifying attempt but still turned in the fourth-fastest time.

Bubba Wallace, Austin Dillon, Chase Elliott, Chase Briscoe, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Ty Dillon and Kyle Busch did not turn in a lap during the first round of qualifying and will start in positions 34-40.

Wallace’s car stalled which resulted in the session being red flagged but time did not stop.

The NASCAR Cup Series Jockey 250 at Road America will go green just after 2:30 p.m. ET (TV: NBC; Radio: MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
