Chase Briscoe takes pole at Gateway

Chase Briscoe will lead the field to the green flag in the Enjoy Illinois 300 Sunday at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.
Briscoe posted a 32.544-second lap time in the second round of qualifying Saturday to earn his first NASCAR Cup Series pole award.
Daytona 500 champion Austin Cindric will start second.
โIt will be interesting to see how it all plays out,โ Briscoe said. โIt is nice to have clean air and hopefully we can keep it tomorrow.โ
Rounding out the Top-5 qualifiers are Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick and Ryan Blaney.
Last weekโs Coke 600 winner, Denny Hamlin, will start sixth.
2021 series champion Kyle Larson will start 15th.
Zane Smith, who is filling in for Chris Buescher in the No. 17, will make his Cup Series debut in 32nd.
The Enjoy Illinois 300 will be televised live on FOX Sports 1 on Sunday, June 5 at 3:30 p.m. ET.
