Chase Elliott earns pole for NASCAR Xfinity race at Pocono

LONG POND, PA. — Last-minute assignment no matter, Chase Elliott earned the pole for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Pocono Raceway.

Elliott paced the Xfinity Series field in qualifying the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet he was assigned to drive at Pocono earlier in the week.

Behind Elliott is Brandon Jones who will start second for the second year in a row at Pocono. Jones is stellar at qualifying at the 2.5-mile track, starting no worse than seventh in the last six races with qualifying — including this year’s race.

Newcomers Nick Sanchez and William Sawalich, Ford drivers Ryan Sieg and Sam Mayer, rookie Taylor Gray, JR Motorsports drivers Justin Allgaier and Connor Zilisch and Richard Childress Racing’s Jesse Love round out the top-10 starters. Matt DiBenedetto will start 11th.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Pocono goes green Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
