Chase Elliott scores first Top-5 of 2024 at Richmond
For the first time this year, Chase Elliott is among the Top-5 finishers in a NASCAR Cup Series race.

After starting on the front row with Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson Sunday, Elliott collected stage points and picked up a fifth-place finish in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Raceway.
“It was a solid night,” Elliott said. “Obviously looking forward to getting to Martinsville (Speedway) and trying to be a little better.”
In the opening seven races of the year, Elliott has posted one Top-5 finish, two Top-10 finishes, and has led 23 laps.
Prior to the Easter Richmond race, Elliott’s last Top-5 finish came at Daytona in August of 2023.
Leaving Richmond, the 2020 series champion moved up one spot to eighth in driver’s points with a 53-point cushion over the playoff cutline.
Entering Martinsville, the site of the next race weekend, Elliott is riding a 41-race winless streak. Elliott’s last victory came at Talladega Superspeedway in October 2022.

Elliott has one victory at Martinsville, coming in his championship-winning season (2020).
