LINCOLN, Ala. — Chase Elliott’s victory in the Yellawood 500 Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway marked his 18th career NASCAR Cup Series points-awarding victory.

The win now ties Elliott with Geoff Bodine, Neil Bonnett, Harry Gant, Kasey Kahne, Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson, and Ryan Newman for 47th all-time on the wins list.

Elliott said he didn’t know he had tied with his teammate Larson, and former Hendrick drivers Bodine and Kahne, but thought the mark was “cool.”

“It’s kinda hard to believe,” Elliott said to The Racing Experts. “18. One was hard. To have 18 now, it’s special. Would love to keep adding to it but as time goes on.

“I’m proud of our team. It’s been the same tem with some changes in there but Alan (Gufstason, crew chief), Tom (Gray, engineer), Eddie (D’Hondt, spotter) have been there the whole way. Proud we’ve been able to grow and have that many opportunities to grab checkered flags.”

The next drivers ahead of Elliott and crew at 19 wins include Davey Allison, Buddy Baker, Greg Biffle, and Fonty Flock.

Elliott has reached Victory Lane five times in 2022 — the most among the Cup Series competition. Prior to the start of the season, Elliott was tied for 58th on the wins list.

The next race for the NASCAR Cup Series is scheduled for next Sunday, Oct. 9, at the Charlotte Road Course.
