Cleetus McFarland to start 35th in NASCAR O’Reilly debut

Garrett Mitchell, better known as “Cleetus McFarland,” will start his highly-anticipated NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series debut in 35th.

McFarland posted the 35th-fastest lap time (23.978-second lap time) Friday in qualifying for the North Carolina Education Lottery 250 at Rockingham Speedway.

“I’m living the American dream out here, having the time of my life,” said McFarland prior to qualifying, who was 27th in practice.

McFarland is piloting the No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. His RCR teammates Jesse Love qualified second and Austin Hill was 11th.

The North Carolina Education Lottery 250 is scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
