Corey Heim handles 7th NASCAR Truck win of 2025 at Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. — Corey Heim handily beat Ty Majeski for his seventh NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win of 2025 on Friday night at Richmond Raceway.

Heim led six times for 75 of 250 laps, second to Majeski — who led six times for 143 laps — and third to him in the stages he won. Heim took the lead from Sammy Smith with 20 laps to go, 16 laps after the restart, and held off Majeski who had fresher tires.

While Majeski had fresher tires, he also had damage. On lap 201, Majeski led and was expected to pit when teammate Matt Crafton’s truck slipped in oil and spun, collecting himself and Majeski in the turn four wall.

The caution allowed Majeski to get a free pit stop while teammate Jake Garcia received the free pass.

TOP-10 FINISHERS (LAP 250): Corey Heim, Ty Majeski, Layne Riggs, Sammy Smith, Corey LaJoie, Gio Ruggiero, Jake Garcia, Ben Rhodes, Chandler Smith, Kaden Honeycutt.

Garcia finished seventh while Rhodes finished eighth, allowing him to make the playoffs by 19 points over Rhodes.

“I did my best to run a smart race in the first half. There were some points where I had to bail out, running a smart race but our guys worked hard on this truck, gave us a fast piece. I wanna thank God for this opportunity to get out here. It’s not the circumstances to get in the playoffs with Stewart Friesen but I’m glad to get into the playoffs. I hope he gets better soon,” Garcia said.

Here is how the playoffs are seeding going into the first race, Aug. 30 at Darlington Raceway (12 p.m. ET, FS1, NRN):

  1. Corey Heim 2065
  2. Layne Riggs 2026

FINAL STAGE

Corey Heim takes home his seventh win in 17 races. He is on track to become the first driver in Truck Series history to win 10 races in a season.

LAP 231 (20 TO GO): Corey Heim takes the lead from Sammy Smith. Ty Majeski and Layne Riggs are not far beyond Smith.

LAP 224: Ty Majeski takes third from Gio Ruggiero, who now falls behind Layne Riggs. Ruggiero is fifth and watching his playoff hopes fade.

LAP 218: Sammy Smith takes the lead as Ty Majeski struggles with damage on the restart. Corey Heim looks for second on teammate Gio Ruggiero who needs a win to make the playoffs. Corey LaJoie got into Majeski and now races him for fourth with Layne Riggs waiting in the wings.

16 38 52 18 9 99 15 got the wave around, eighth through 14th. 13 free pass. Lap 216, 7, 98 lead.

Ty Majeski after teammate Matt Crafton spun him: “I can’t get the whole scope of what’s going on but I feel like that was a good thing.”

Team agrees, Majeski will pit under green and get fresher tires than others. Him winning would protect teammate Jake Garcia’s playoff hopes. Crafton blamed oil — FS1 replay shows oil on the track.

LAP 200: Matt Crafton gets loose under leader Ty Majeski! Crafton spins Majeski and wrecks himself. Caution flies. Crafton was on new tires while Majeski was on old tires.

Majeski: “What happened!?”

LAP 195: Heim, Riggs pit from second and third. Leader Majeski expected in but is told to keep going for now.

LAP 161: Layne Riggs takes sixth. Now he dogs Tyler Ankrum for fifth.

LAP 156: Ty Majeski takes the lead from Corey Heim after Kaden Honeycutt challenged Majeski on the restart.

LAP 152: Heim to the lead as Honeycutt challenges Majeski, 99 to go.

Top 10 to start the 100 laps of green flag racing in the final stage: Majeski, Heim, Honeycutt, Enfinger, Ankrum, Rhodes, Eckes, Garcia, Ruggiero, Chandler Smith.

STAGE TWO Winner: Ty Majeski

Ty Majeski bested Jake Garcia, Corey Heim, Christian Eckes, Grant Enfinger, Kaden Honeycutt, Ben Rhodes, Chandler Smith, Tyler Ankrum and Layne Riggs in the second stage.

Jake Garcia gets second in Stage Two while Ben Rhodes gets seventh. Garcia finished ninth in Stage One while Rhodes received no stage points. Garcia is now up 18 points on Rhodes. A finish of 19th or better — and no new winner below the cutline — will clinch Garcia a playoff spot no matter what

LAP 131: Jake Garcia takes third. He finished ninth in the first stage and is set to gain three points on Ben Rhodes in the second stage. In all, Garcia is set to leave the second stage up 16 points on Rhodes.

LAP 121: His Majesty, Ty Majeski, the defending NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion, takes the lead from Corey Heim. He restarted eighth just five laps before.

LAP 116: Corey Heim, Layne Riggs, Ben Rhodes, Sammy Smith, Matt Crafton, Chandler Smith and Rajah Caruth are the top-seven runners. Eighth through 14th pitted: Ty Majeski, Kaden Honeycutt, Christian Eckes, Jake Garcia, Tyler Ankrum, Grant Enfinger and Gio Ruggiero, who just received the free pass.

LAP 114: Ty Majeski pits after taking the lead from Corey Heim on the lap 97 restart. Caution flew for Dawson Sutton coming to a stop at pit road entrance while running 21st.

LAP 90: Luke Fenhaus and Spencer Boyd spin. Free pass goes to Rajah Caruth.

LAP 81: Ty Majeski led but Corey Heim takes it with a push from Sammy Smith.

LAP 70: Ty Majeski wins the first stage. Top 10: Majeski, Layne Riggs, Corey Heim, Sammy Smith, Chandler Smith, Kaden Honeycutt, Christian Eckes, Grant Enfinger, Jake Garcia, Matt Crafton.

LAP 50: Layne Riggs takes second from Corey Heim, behind leader Ty Majeski.

Top 10: Majeski, Riggs, Heim, Sammy Smith, Chandler Smith, Grant Enfinger, Matt Crafton, Kaden Honeycutt, Christian Eckes, Jake Garcia.

LAP 44: Chandler Smith, who has a winning streak to protect at Richmond, goes to fifth.

LAP 38: Ben Rhodes in 12th is about a tenth faster than Jake Garcia in 10th but is 3.2 seconds back with 36 to go in the stage. If Garcia gets a stage point and Rhodes doesn’t, it gets harder for Rhodes to chase and pass him for a playoff spot.

Sammy Smith is coming through the field, jumping from seventh to fourth. Matt Crafton has fallen from fourth to seventh.

LAP 29: Daniel Hemric is in the garage. When he had a tire issue, he dragged the sway bar. He may go back out to log some laps and get better with their short track program.

LAP 18: Ty Majeski takes the lead from Corey Heim using the top lane. Layne Riggs is three seconds back in third, which he took from Grant Enfinger.

LAP 12: Daniel Hemric has a flat tire after a slow start and sparking.

Corey Heim jumps out to the lead early on, ahead of Ty Majeski and Grant Enfinger. Majeski and Enfinger are in the playoffs on points — but fifth-place Matt Crafton isn’t and could spoil the playoffs on the final night of the regular season.

The first stage is 70 laps of the 250-lap overall distance.
