LONG POND, Pa.— Daniel Suarez was the runner-up finisher Sunday at Pocono Raceway. It was not only a career best finish, but he also led for more laps than any other  Cup series race. This was his second top-10 finish in four races at Pocono.

Suarez beat his previous record of 3rd place on two different occasions. He finished 3rd at Watkins Glen last year and again at Dover back in May.

Suarez was in command for 29 laps on 3 different occasions throughout the 400 mile event.

Suarez broke his previous record of 14 laps led at Watkins Glen International last year.

The 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion earned his first career Cup series pole after Kevin Harvick’s time was disallowed due to a post-qualifying inspection failure.

Entering Sunday’s event, the driver of the No. 19 for Joe Gibbs Racing had only led 6 laps in 2018. The driver was up front at Bristol for 5 laps and again at Talladega for 1 lap.
