David Starr could run Cup races in 2021

NASCAR Xfinity Series competitor David Starr is open to running Cup Series races this year for Carl Long’s MBM Motorsports, the team he will compete for in the Xfinity Series in 2021 starting at the Daytona Road Course.
“If he needs me to help him out, run a Cup race, I will, but my focus is 100 percent on trying to get our Xfinity car very competitive,” Starr said.
“Running a Cup race is not a priority right now, but I would tell you that it’s not out of question that you won’t see me run three, four, maybe five races.”
Starr will race in 32 Xfinity Series races this season, piloting the No. 13 Supra for the organization.
Starr, 53, has driven over 200 races in NASCAR’s second-tier series. He has also raced in 10 Cup Series points races since 2011, including three events for Long’s team in 2017.
“I’m so competitive, and I told Carl, before I start talking about Cup races or running a Cup race here or there, I want to make sure that we can get that No. 13 Whataburger Toyota Supra running strong on the Xfinity side,” Starr said.
“Until we can get that thing performing, start getting Top-15’s every week, that’s my main priority right now.”
