David Starr said Tuesday he’ll return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series this month and could return to the Cup Series later this season.

“My next [Xfinity] race is Talladega and I’m just getting back to racing as many races as I can,” Starr said.

Starr’s last Xfinity Series race was for Our Motorsports at Fontana in February. However, he didn’t say if he’ll race for them again at Talladega.

Starr also said he is looking forward to getting in the Cup Series’ Next Gen car for the first time.

“It’s a possibility you might see me in maybe two Cup races, I’m working on that,” Starr said on his podcast, Let’s Go Racing with David Starr, in response to a fan-submitted question.

“Right now, we’re just working on it, but I’m hoping to run two Cup races and am focused on getting back.”

The four-time Truck Series winner and recent Xfinity Series mainstay’s last Cup Series race was the 2021 season finale at Phoenix Raceway.

“I can’t wait,” Starr said. “You hear everybody’s opinions about it, it’d be kind of cool to finally get in there and feel what the new Cup car is, to compare to the old Cup car.”
