With the start of the season just over two weeks away, NASCAR veteran David Starr has yet to officially announce his NASCAR racing plans for 2022.

Yet, the 54-year-old driver indicated on his podcast, Letโ€™s Go Racing with David Starr Wednesday (Feb. 3) some news on his plans will be announced soon.

โ€œIโ€™m excited to announce some news coming up soon,โ€ Starr said.

Starr has declared for Xfinity Series points since 2014, racing for teams including TriStar Motorsports, Jimmy Means Racing, and most recently, MBM Motorsports.

In 2021, Starr raced in seven Cup Series races โ€” all for Carl Longโ€™s MBM Motorsports โ€” the most he ever has in a single season in NASCARโ€™s top series. Will he race in the Cup Series this year?

โ€œI donโ€™t know, itโ€™s hard to answer that question right now,โ€ Starr said on the podcast, in reference to a fan-submitted question about it.

โ€œI hope so, I canโ€™t really give a definite answerโ€ฆ I hope to be racing in some Cup races, but right now itโ€™s not my priority.

โ€œIโ€™m just blessed and glad to be racing, but man, Iโ€™m biting at the bit to get in one of those new Next Gen Cup cars, so I hope so.โ€
