David Starr out early with engine troubles

By Jonathan Fjeld

NEWTON, Iowa — David Starr is out of the Circuitcity.com 250 after having engine issues on Lap 29 of 250.

Starr started the race in 24th and was 27th in the lone practice session Friday. Starr explained what happened in the race.

“I was hoping to get a top 15 and we were heading in that direction. Unfortunately had a mechanical problem in the engine.”

“It broke internally. You don’t know how bad I’d love to be back out there. It’s one of those deals. It’s, I hate to say it, just racing.”

Starr entered the race 20th in points, 173 points behind 12th place Brandon Jones. Starr will be in the #52 on June 29th when the NASCAR Xfinity Series races at Chicagoland Speedway for the Camping World 300 (2:30 PM EST, TV: NBCSN).
