Dean Thompson Released From Hospital After Scary Texas Crash
TRICON Garage confirmed Sunday driver Dean Thompson was evaluated and released from the hospital after a wreck in Saturday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series SpeedyCash.com 250 at Texas Motor Speedway.
On Lap 146, Thompson wrecked exiting turn four. Then, amid the smoke and debris, Matt Mills and Trey Hutchens hit his truck. Armani Williams hit Hutchens’ truck before Hutchens hit Thompson.
Thompson exited the car but needed help from the medical crews. He went to the infield care center, then went to the hospital.
Thompson posted late Saturday night and had some humor about his situation.
The 21-year-old has had speed but wrecks at Daytona, Atlanta, Austin and Texas mean his only finish better than 28th in 2023 is 16th at Las Vegas.
The next race for Thompson and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series field is the April 8 race at the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt track (8 p.m. ET; 40/90/150 stage ends; TV: FS1; Radio: MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
