Denny Hamlin ties Bobby Isaac wins list

AVONDALE, Ariz. — Denny Hamlin tied 1970 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Bobby Isaac on the series’ wins list with his win Sunday (November 10) in the Bluegreen Vacations 500 at ISM Raceway.
Hamlin led 143 laps en route to his sixth win of 2019 and 37th of his career.
“I’ve been through so much at this race track,” Hamlin said. “Obviously in 2010 and the downfall of our championship run there to get it all back 10 years later, this is special to me.”
Overall, Hamlin is now tied for 22nd all time on the Cup Series wins list.

The next drivers ahead of Hamlin and Isaac are Matt Kenseth (39), Tim Flock (39), Mark Martin (40), Bill Elliott (44) and Buck Baker (46).
Since the beginning of the season, Hamlin has passed Dale Jarrett and Fireball Roberts on the wins list.
NEXT WEEK
Hamlin will join Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. to battle for the 2019 championship.
The 38-year-old driver will be racing to win his first NASCAR elite series title.
“I try not to put too much into it,” Hamlin said of his victory. “There’s still work to be done. Doesn’t guarantee a championship.

“Gives us a chance. Live to fight another day. That’s all you can ask for.”
The next race of the season, the 2019 finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, is scheduled for next Sunday, November 17.
