Legacy Motor Club will not appeal Erik Jones’ Martinsville disqualification
Following post-race inspection from the Cook Out 400 Sunday, NASCAR announced Erik Jones was disqualified after his racecar failed to meet the minimum height requirement.

Jones, driver of the No. 43, originally was credited with a 24th-place finish, one lap down at Martinsville Speedway.
Jones and his Legacy Motor Club team are now credited with a 38th-place finish, netting one point for the race. LMC will not appeal the disqualification, releasing this statement:
“LEGACY MOTOR CLUB will not appeal the disqualification of the No. 43 car following Sundayโs race at Martinsville Speedway. We understand NASCAR allows a clear margin to account for the difference in pre- and post-race weight. After a thorough audit by the CLUB today, we have concluded that we did not give ourselves enough margin to meet the post-race requirement. Although it was not intentional, we are taking steps internally to prevent this from happening again. We therefore accept the penalty and apologize to NASCAR, our partners and our fans.”
Now ranked 29th in points, Jones is 51 points behind the NASCAR Playoffs cutline.
Additionally, the No. 10 Chevrolet of Ty Dillon โ along with the DQ’d Jones No. 43 Toyota โ will be heading back to NASCAR’s Research and Development Center for further inspection, NASCAR said in a news release.
