Fans can control NASCAR team’s decisions at Phoenix

Fans will get to determine the driver, paint scheme and strategies a NASCAR Xfinity Series team will follow next month at Phoenix Raceway.

Fan Controlled Sports and Entertainment is partnering with SS-Greenlight Racing to control their No. 08 Ford Mustang.

First, fans will get to determine who will drive the No. 08 Ford. The poll is live now with the following options:

  • David Starr
  • J.J. Yeley
  • Mason Massey
  • Stefan Parsons

Whoever wins the poll will get to drive the No. 08 Ford on November 4 at Phoenix.

Fans will also get to decide what paint scheme that car will race. Come raceday, fans will get to decide when the car will pit and what lane to choose on a restart.

“This will be the first of many live race experiences where fans get to call the shots, help determine the strategy, and be a part of the race team,” said Patrick Dees, the co-founder of FCSE.

The polls are available to vote on in the Control app, which you can download here.

In addition to getting to vote on key decisions for the team, fans can also earn points and have a chance to have their picture on the hood of the No. 08 team at Phoenix.

FCSE is also planning a watch party-style live stream, with motorsports dignitaries hosting. That will air on the Control app and on social media.

The developers behind this initiative first started with Fan Controlled Football, which allowed fans to influence team names, branding, player selection, league rules, and individual plays on the field.

FCF ran for two seasons and now is dormant. The developers are looking to license its technology and sell franchises with the hopes of a future relaunch.
