Gibbs dominates at Milwaukee; Smith pads ARCA East points lead

Ty Gibbs padded his ARCA Menards Series points lead over Corey Heim with a dominating win in Sunday’s Sprecher 150 at the Milwaukee Mile.

Gibbs bested Daniel Dye and Taylor Gray for his ninth win of the season. For the third time this season, he also led every lap and won.

The Top 10 finishers are as follows: Ty Gibbs, Sam Mayer, Daniel Dye, Tanner Gray, Sammy Smith, Corey Heim, Jesse Love, Joey Iest, Thad Moffitt, Gracie Trotter.

Championship rival Corey Heim finished sixth after dropping back on the final run of the race.

Entering the Sprecher 150 at the Milwaukee Mile, Ty Gibbs and Corey Heim were tied for the ARCA Menards Series points lead. Gibbs earned bonus points for leading the most laps and winning the pole, in addition to winning Sunday, which vaulted him to an 11-point lead over Heim.

Sam Mayer finished second after holding off Daniel Dye, who mounted a strong challenge on the final lap but fell short of taking second.

Dye, who finished third, gained two points on ARCA East championship leader Sammy Smith who finished fifth. Dye is now second in the ARCA East points, 24 points behind Smith.

Mason Diaz, who was second in points prior to Sunday’s race, finished 19th, 10 laps down after having issues. Diaz is now third in points, 33 points behind Smith.

The next race for the ARCA Menards Series is the September 5 Southern Illinois 100 at DuQuoin State Fairgrounds Raceway. The most recent winner is Christian Eckes, who won there in 2019.

The next race for the ARCA Menards Series East is the September 16 Bush’s Beans 200 at Bristol. The most recent winner is Sam Mayer, who won there in 2020.
