Gragson, Burton top Xfinity Series practices at Auto Club Speedway

Noah Gragson and Harrison Burton topped Friday afternoon practices at Auto Club Speedway, in preparation for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Production Alliance Group 300.

Gragson was fastest in first practice with a time of 40.646 seconds (177.139 MPH average), over two tenths quicker than Austin Cindric, who posted a time of 40.904 seconds (176.022 MPH average).

The rest of the top 10 in first practice were Daniel Hemric, Brandon Jones, Harrison Burton, Ryan Sieg, Ross Chastain, Chase Briscoe, Justin Allgaier and Anthony Alfredo.

Harrison Burton would improve from being fifth fastest in first practice to being fastest in the second and final practice. Burton posted a time 41.267 seconds (174.474 MPH average), just under two tenths quicker than Gragson who posted a time of 41.432 seconds (173.779 MPH average) in final practice.

The rest of the top 10 in final practice were Austin Cindric, Chase Briscoe, Brandon Jones, Daniel Hemric, Riley Herbst, Michael Annett, Ross Chastain and Justin Allgaier.

Last week’s winner Chase Briscoe was eighth fastest in first practice and fourth fastest in final practice. Briscoe posted a time of 41.298 seconds (174.343 MPH average) in first practice and a 41.480 seconds time (173.578 MPH average) in final practice.

Briscoe currently leads the Xfinity Series points over Noah Gragson by seven points and Harrison Burton by 12 points.

The Xfinity Series cars will qualify for the Production Alliance Group 300 tomorrow at 1:05pm EST (TV: FS1) and the race will be run at 4pm EST (TV: FS1; Radio: MRN)
