Hill survives chaotic Knoxville NCWTS race

After four overtime attempts in Friday’s Corn Belt 150 at Knoxville, Austin Hill bested Chandler Smith to earn his seventh career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win.

Hill took the lead from Smith during the third overtime attempt on Lap 170.

Smith finished second after leading a race-high 71 laps.

The Top 10 finishers are as follows: Austin Hill, Chandler Smith, Grant Enfinger, Todd Gilliland, Derek Kraus, Matt Crafton, Ben Rhodes, Brian Brown, Tate Fogleman, Danny Bohn.

There were 20 lead changes among seven drivers and 14 cautions for 80 laps, including nine cautions in the final stage.

The final stage was scheduled for 60 laps but was extended by 29 laps due to overtime.

Chandler Smith currently holds the final playoff spot by 40 points over Derek Kraus, 44 points over Tyler Ankrum and 51 points over Johnny Sauter.

Kraus, Ankrum and Sauter are each in a virtual must-win situation for the August 7 regular season finale at Watkins Glen International (12:30 p.m. ET; TV: FS1; Radio: MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
