Historic DNF spoils first Truck race at Darlington for Kyle Busch

DARLINGTON, S.C. — The first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start at Darlington Raceway for Kyle Busch ended after just 6 of 147 laps.

Busch was racing Corey Heim for the lead exiting turn two on lap two when his truck snapped sideways. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion spun and hit the inside wall.

Busch limped back to pit road and the team did the best they could to fix his truck. He even got back on track and cleared the DVP clock. Still, the damage was too much and cut a tire, sending him into the outside wall in turn one.

“Where’s the hauler?” Busch asked immediately after the incident happened.

Busch went behind the backstretch wall, needing a wrecker to bring his truck back to the garage.

Friday night marked Busch’s 15th DNF in 175 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts and his first since Pocono Raceway in 2017.

With just six laps complete, Friday’s race marked the second-fewest laps Busch has completed in a NASCAR national series race behind only an October 2003 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway where he blew an engine on lap two.

In total, Busch has 1231 NASCAR national series starts.

As a NASCAR Cup Series veteran, Busch has no more Craftsman Truck Series starts left this season. He had two wins in five starts.
